On Wednesday, Minister of Works Babatunde Fashola said the ministry needed approximately N6.26 trillion to complete the country’s approximately 711 federal highway projects.
Although defending the Ministry’s 2021 budget prediction, the Minister spoke before the House Works Committee headed by Hon. Nevertheless, Abubakar Kabir Bichi said that insufficient funding had slowed down the rate of work on road projects.
Due to the lack of funds, Fashola said it was difficult for the Ministry to achieve all its goals, but said that resources should be channeled towards the completion of the entire green network covering the four major ports, Lagos, Warri, Port Harcourt and Calabar, rather than expanding the projects being funded through Sukuk.
