The Kano State Hisbah Board destroyed 1,975,000 bottles of beer seized in the Kano metropolis, worth more than N200 million.
State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who was represented during the destruction exercise at Kalebawa in Dawakin Tofa Local Government by his deputy Nasiru Gawuna, said alcohol consumption and all other intoxicants that could distort mental capacity and were prohibited in Islam.
Hisbah applies Sharia law
As part of his administration’s attempt to boost the welfare of Hisbah, Gawuna said that before the end of 2020, there will be a pay increase and a new uniform for them.

In his remarks, Sheikh Harun Muhammad Ibn Sina, Commander General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, said that the board had obtained a court order to destroy over 20 alcohol trucks.
In appreciating the support provided to them by the State Government, Ibn Sina assured the Hisbah that it would not yield in its fight against immoral actions that destroy society.
