237 party goers arrested for breaking Covid-19 guidelines by Lagos State Police Command


Yesterday, Saturday 9 January, Lagos State Police Command paraded 237 clubgoers who were detained for breaching COVID19 protocols.

On Friday night, January 8 and Saturday, January 9, the clubgoers were apprehended in the State Axis of Surulere and Victoria Island.

The state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, when parading them, said;

The command has not relied on its oars to ensure that there is complete compliance with covid-19 orders in order to minimize or avoid the spread of the pandemic in the continuation of the command’s vow and determination to implement COVID-19 orders and protocols.

On Friday, 8 January 2021, the Command pounced on some deviant night clubs during a night operation, organized and ordered by the Police Commissioner, Lagos State, where two hundred and thirty-seven (237) violators were arrested.

Lounge 38, Bode Thomas Surulere (85 suspects) and Club Victoria’s, VI (152 suspects) were the clubs raided, while six (6) were arrested for breaching the state’s 12 midnight to 4am curfew imposed by the Federal Government.

Two hundred and forty-three (243) criminals have been convicted in total and are being paraded today.

The Command wishes to reiterate its zeal and devotion to due and absolute implementation of COVID-19 protocols and orders including the Federal Government 12 midnight to 4am curfew, in Lagos State as police officers and citizens, with the aid of other security agencies, will go after and arrest any violators, no matter how highly placed, and cause them to face the full wrath of the law.

Odumosu said they would soon be tried in court.
