Al-Qaeda leader who took over from Bin Laden ‘dies from asthma on a mountain hideout’


Al-Qaeda’s boss supposedly died from asthma in his mountain hideout in Afghanistan.

After the terror boss was killed by US special forces during a daring raid on his compound in 2011, Ayman al-Zawahiri took over from Osama bin Laden.

The terrorist, 68, died of asthma-related natural causes, according to Arab News, citing reports in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The publication reported that a Pakistani security official had said: “We believe that he is no longer alive.” We strongly conclude that he died of natural causes.

Reportedly, intelligence agencies are aware of the leaks and aim to check whether or not they are correct.

Some intelligence outlets were cited as being aware of the “extremely ill” terrorist, with another saying that al-Zawahiri was in “unstable health.”

His confirmed death comes three months after the death of Abdullah Ahmed Abdullah, also identified as Abu Muhammad al-Masri, the second of al-commendations. Qaeda’s

Al-Masri was allegedly shot dead by two hitmen on a motorcycle in Tehran, Iran, in August, along with his daughter.

His daughter, Maryam, was married to the son of Osama bin Laden, Hamza bin Laden.

Al-Zawahiri, back though bin Laden was alive, was known as the brain behind the global terrorism network.

He last appeared on the landmark anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the US in a video clip.

“In a 33-minute, 28-second video produced by the as-Sahab Media Foundation of the group, he said: “If you want jihad to focus exclusively on military goals, from the east to the west, the American military is present all over the world.

“Your countries are littered with American bases with all the infidels therein and the corruption they spread.”
