Four American troops killed in a blast near ISIS stronghold in Syria

According to reports, four US soldiers have been killed after their vehicle was hit by an explosive device in Syria.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency, they were murdered on Al-Hasakah Road in Deir Ezzor.

Before it was retaken by Syrian forces in 2017, Deir Ezzor was previously under ISIS siege.

According to reports last month, after the collapse of its self-proclaimed caliphate in 2019, ISIS has been holding on to its first territory in Syria.

It ended after the Syrian Democratic Forces, supported by an international coalition led by the United States, liberated the town of Baghouz after a six-week battle.

Yet it is said that the terror group has never gone anywhere.

And it succeeded in taking charge of the desert territory about 15 miles from Deir Ezzor, the Sun published.

An ISIS revival in rural Deir Ezzor was announced in September by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

It said areas were seeing an increase in ISIS cell violence targeting civilians as well as the Syrian Democratic Forces.

Unidentified gunmen killed a civilian, the organization said, killing him instantly.

Meanwhile, the US recently strengthened its military presence to ensure the safety of its troops amid growing tensions with Russia.

The Express reports that US officials said that six Bradley Combat Vehicles and approximately 100 troops were part of the deployment to north-east Syria.

In a September statement, U.S. Central Command spokesman Captain Bill Urban said: “These acts are a strong indication of U.S. commitment to protect the ESSA’s coalition forces and to ensure that they can continue their ISIS-Defeat mission without intervention.”

Combined Joint Task Force-Inherent Operation Resolve re-positions elements in northeast Syria to ensure that our troops are secure and the Defeat-Daesh mission continues.

Pursuant to these priorities, the Defense Department has previously deployed Bradleys to North-East Syria. The US does not pursue conflict in Syria with any other country, but will, if necessary, defend coalition forces.
