Piers Corbyn and an army of anti-lockdown demonstrators have stomped through central London in protest against newly enforced ’Tier Two’ coronavirus restrictions.

At the stroke of midnight, the capital was plunged into Tier Two conditions – placing restrictions on who can meet were, effectively banning the mixing of people outside of households and bubbles in indoor settings.

Thousands took to the streets of London on Saturday to argue against the new rules – with anti-vaxxer crackpot Piers, 73, among the more prominent protesters.

Photos from central London showed the conspiracy theorist – who is the older brother of failed Labour leader Jeremy, 71 – clutching a loudspeaker as he marched and rambled through the streets.

Other demonstrators carried signs declaring the coronavirus pandemic – which has killed over 1 million worldwide and infected a reported 39.4 million – as a “hoax”.

While others undermined the severity of the Covid-19 virus which has claimed 43,579 victims in the UK so far and caused havoc with the economy and caused months of lockdown misery for the entire nation.

The Mirror reports one protester arguing outside Downing Street: “Man flu has closed our country and crushed our economy.”

An estimated 28 million people – more than half of England’s population – are believed to be living under Tier Two and Tier Three lockdown rules.

London, York, and Essex were placed under Tier Two restrictions on Saturday limiting how members of the public can interact.

Lancashire and Liverpool are currently under Tier Three rules – the strictest of them all – while there are concerns Manchester could also be placed into Tier Three next week.

The strict measures have come after a renewed increase in positive Covid-19 test results, hospital admissions, and deaths.

On Saturday, another 136 coronavirus related deaths were confirmed in the UK as death rates return to levels similar to those seen when the lockdown was enforced back in March.

There is speculation that tougher measures would be needed to avoid up to 690 Covid-related deaths per day by November.
