In Zankoro village along Birnin Gwari-Kaduna highway on Sunday, some bandits killed no less than nine travelers, including children.

Also, on the same day, a total of 11 people were abducted by bandits in Dan Kungi village in the Kaduna State Local Government Area of Birnin Gwari.

This was contained in a statement made on Monday by Mr Salisu Haruna, Chairman of the Birnin-Gwari Progressives Union.

“The statement entitled, ‘Alarming increase in banditry and killings in the general area of Birnin Gwari,’ added that between December 20, 2020 and January 4, 2021, more than 40 people were abducted by the bandits, adding that “some of them (abductees) have been confirmed to be terribly ill.

The statement read in part, “For the people of Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, the New Year 2021 has begun in sorrow and tears.”

Bandits laid siege on innocent travelers at Zankoro along the dreaded Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna Highway on Sunday, January 3rd, 2021, killing nine people (including three children) on their way to a ceremony at Doka, Birnin-Gwari LGA.

“Similarly, the bandits arrived at the same Zankoro about 9 a.m. today, Monday, January 4, 2021, indiscriminately shooting and abducting unspecified numbers of people and injuring six others who are now undergoing care at Buruku.
