As Bayern Munich held onto their position at the top of the Bundesliga, Thomas Muller saved a dramatic 3-3 draw against RB Leipzig.

After Manuel Neuer’s mistake gifted Christopher Nkunku the opener, Bayern came from behind to lead with substitute Jamal Musiala and Muller scoring in the space of four first-half minutes.

Before Emil Forsberg’s header looked set to take Leipzig to the summit, Justin Kluivert replied quickly with his first Bundesliga goal to send the teams to half-time level.

However with 15 minutes remaining, Leipzig sat back and Muller connected with a cross from Kingsley Coman, with a point sufficient to ensure that Bayern remained the pacesetters.

After Marcel Sabitzer hit the crossbar, when Neuer ran out of his box, Nkunku put Leipzig ahead but failed to beat the Frenchman to Forsberg’s through ball and left him with an empty net to move into.

Javi Martinez was forced off with a muscular wound, but five minutes after coming off the bench, his substitute Musiala arrowed in an equalizer, giving Peter Gulacsi no chance after the Leipzig goalkeeper had made a phenomenal save to keep the sublime half-volley of Benjamin Pavard out of the top-right corner.

In the 34th minute, a quickfire second saw Bayern take the lead as Muller sent Coman’s pass beyond Gulacsi at his near post.

However, after being played onside by Jerome Boateng, they were only in front for 81 seconds, with Kluivert taking out the bottom-left corner.

Within three minutes after the restart, Leipzig reclaimed the lead, leaving Forsberg in plenty of room to head Angelino’s cross past Neuer.

The side of Julian Nagelsmann looked to soak up the pressure and see the victory, but they were undone when Coman picked Muller out again for a header that Gulacsi was unable to hold out.
