Bear with us if we have not done enough – President Buhari appeals to Nigerians

President Buhari has called on Nigerians to be patient, even though they still feel the consequences of his administration.

At a city hall meeting with traditional rulers, youths, students, organized labor, market women and other stakeholders on the # EndSARS protest and its aftermath in Ilorin, Kwara state, President Buhari made the appeal today, 6 November.

President Buhari, represented by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, at the town hall meeting, said that his administration is interested in young people and people in general and has done a lot to impact their lives. The president said that the declining resources caused by the effects of COVID 19, which also affected the global economy, are constraining the government.

“If we have not done enough or we have not touch everybody, we appeal that you please bear with us. In the first instance, what we have is less than 60 per cent of the revenue that was available to other governments that came before us. We all know what we suffered during COVID 19, and as we are just trying to recover from this we also face another crisis. We appeal that you should please assist the government and be patient.

This government is dedicated to serving the people and we will continue to try our best to do so. I thank you all for your perseverance, understanding and patience” he said

According to President Buhari, several initiatives are being implemented by his administration to help alleviate poverty among women and disadvantaged groups, as well as to build jobs for young people.
