The arrest of the alleged killer of Dr. Karl Kwaghger, an associate lecturer at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, has been reported by the Benue State Police Command.
Remember that on Saturday, November 28, Dr. Kwaghger was assassinated at the JS Tarka Foundation premises in Makurdi.
DSP spokeswoman Catherine Anene, who confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday, December 5, said the suspect identified as Nnamdi Jeremiah, a student at the same university, had been arrested in Abuja, where he went to sell the car of the deceased.
“On 28/11/2020 at about 2120hrs information was received that Dr. Karl Kwaghger, a lecturer with the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi was found in a pool of blood at J.S. Tarka Foundation where he went to relax,” the statement reads.
Police detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene where they met the victim, brutally stabbing his ribs and cutting his throat.
‘During the investigation, a student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Nnamdi Jeremiah’m ‘from Umigwe village, Imo State, was arrested in Abuja where he went to sell the car of the deceased.
The perpetrator admitted to the crime and further claimed that his original intention was to assault the victim with a make-believe gun and rob him of his vehicle, but because of his resistance, he ended up killing him and took the car away. Investigations are ongoing.
