On Wednesday, December 2, an 11-year-old California boy fatally shot and killed himself during his online Zoom lesson.

On Wednesday morning, when he turned the gun himself, the child, identified as Adan Llanos, was at home attending online class with his Woodbridge Elementary schoolmates.

His camera and microphone were both turned off at the time, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office. The one who found him and told a neighbor and her instructor, who called for help, was his sister, who was also studying in another room online.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office rushed to the Woodbridge home at 300 Sterling Street and discovered the infant with a head injury shortly after 11 a.m.

He was rushed to the hospital and died from injuries that were self-inflicted. The sheriff’s office said the boy’s family was in the hospital next to him before he died.

The Sheriff’s Office said on their Facebook page, “Our thoughts are with the family and all those affected by this tragic event.”

Detectives are now investigating the tragic incident; they have not said how the gun was obtained by the child, nor who it belonged to.

In a Facebook post, Lodi Unified School District announced the death: “We are deeply saddened to share that a Woodbridge Elementary School student passed away today as a result of a gunshot wound.”

The boy’s heartbroken aunt and a GoFundMe to try to cope with the funeral costs for his mistake.

It was a really hard day for our family today. After a self-inflicted gunshot wound, we just lost our nephew,” she wrote. “His name is Adan Llanos and he was only 11 years old.

“I know Aron and Mirna are such great parents, I can’t even imagine what they are going through. I’m doing this go fund me to be able to help my family with the funeral expenses. I don’t want to go into details. Thank you very much our family will appreciate it.”
