This is the disturbing moment when after pretending to be egged on by her mother, a small girl stole property from outside a disabled woman’s home.
The video taken in Stoke-on-Trent, shows the girl walking to Dawn Walton’s home’s front-drive.
Before cutting some sort of elastic strip, she starts rifling through an object on the fence.
At the top of the frame, the youngster then runs to a woman who is pushing a pram.
Moments later, to pinch the cover for the Dawn mobility scooter, she goes back to the drive and runs off.
Dawn, 61, was out when the incident occurred on November 3 at a dental appointment.
She was shocked to see her £ 30 cover gone when she returned.
“She told the Stoke Sentinel, “I have fencing in front and what I did was weave the cover in and out of the fence to protect it. Then I wondered, when I came back, where did my cover go?
It started pouring with rain, and since they don’t deal with the weather, I had to run around trying to find something to cover my scooter with. It doesn’t do any good if water gets into the electrics.
“I managed to get a cover on it and then I felt I was going to pull up my CCTV footage and figure out if it was gone.”
Dawn said it appeared that the girl she believed was seven years old was “egged on by her mother moving the pram.
“She added, “The girl came down and must have caught sight of the elastic. “She was trying to get her mother’s attention to say, “Do you want this as well?
The woman found “appalling” the alleged actions of the mum, adding that she was “devastated because she sent the child down to pinch items.”
The Police of Staffordshire say they are investigating the incident.
“A police spokesman said A scooter cover worth around £ 30 was stolen from the Cobridge Road car park.
Witnesses should call the police on 101, quoting the November 3 incident number 291.
