Congress declares Joe Biden as the next US President shortly after the invasion of the Capitol building by Trump supporters

President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College win over President Trump has been affirmed by the US Congress.

The compilation of Vermont’s three electoral votes placed Biden and vice-president-elect Kamala Harris above the 270-threshold required to win the presidency, according to CNN.

The study also said that objections to tossing out Georgia and Pennsylvania’s electoral votes for Biden were rejected by the Senate and House.

Republicans even objected to the electoral votes of Arizona, Nevada, and Michigan, but before they entered the discussion, the resolutions failed.

“The announcement of the state of the vote by the President of the Senate shall be deemed to be an adequate declaration by the persons elected President and Vice-President of the United States, each for a period beginning on the 20th day of January 2021, and shall be entered in the publications of the Senate and of the House of Representatives together with the list of votes,” Pence said after the council.

The certification comes after pro-Trump rioters on Wednesday invaded the US Capitol building and violently clashed with police in an effort to avoid the certification of President-elect Joe Biden.
