Cristiano Ronaldo Becomes The All-Time Leading Goalscorer, In The History Of Football!

Since becoming the all-time leading goalscorer in football after scoring for Juventus in their game against Napoli, Cristiano Ronaldo has made history.

The 35-year-old was predicted to hit the incredible milestone against Inter on Sunday after edging closer to history by scoring to record levels against Sassuolo last week.

The legendary Juve forward, however, waited for the great occasion in the Italian Super Cup and duly delivered against the men of Gennaro Gattuso as he found the back of the net – taking his special career to new incredible heights.

With the Austrian-Czech striker scoring 759 goals between 1931 and 1955, the effort moved him beyond Josef Bican.

In his distinguished career, Ronaldo now has 760 goals and is only bound to expand the record as he continues to shine at the top of world football.

Only Lionel Messi, his eternal rival, looks capable of surpassing his record. The superstar of Barcelona and Argentina has 715 career goals for club and country, but has played less than 150 games so far and has time on his hand, being Ronaldo’s junior for two years.

For now, even so, this record belongs to Ronaldo. The forward, who turns 36 on February 5, has written his name throughout a career that saw him excel at Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Portugal in the record books.

On January 3, after a brace in a 4-1 Serie A home win over Udinese, Ronaldo moved above three-time Brazil World Cup winner Pele (757 career goals) into second on this list.

That put him at 758 career goals and during Juve’s 3-1 home win over 10-man Sassuolo in Serie A on January 10, he matched Bican’s feat with an injury-time right-footed strike.

When you break down the goalscoring numbers of Ronaldo – they highlight how complete a footballer he really is.

Not only is his jaw-dropping tally stacked by his favored right foot. With this body part, he scores six of every 10 goals, but almost two in 10 with his left and two in 10 with his head. One goal came off his elbow in the 2014-15 season against Athletic Bilbao, and another rebounded from his groin in 2008 for Manchester United against West Ham.

Unsurprisingly, most of his goals came from open play – 569 of them, a staggering 75%.

Penalties account for 18 percent of his goals, while from free-kicks he has scored 57.

And home comforts also don’t skew the numbers. In-home fixtures, only 54.80 percent of his goals have been scored, while 40 percent have come on the road.

Neutral grounds have accounted for over 40 goals, a touch over five percent – international tournaments, cup finals.

But the secrets behind Ronaldo’s remarkable record mean that he could possibly still have another five years at the top level, even well into his mid-thirties.

He showed little sign of slowing down; instead, he refined his game into the ultimate goal machine, from being a dynamic all-round superstar.

Ronaldo will be hoping to continue his record-breaking form next Sunday night at Inter Milan’s Serie A title rivals.
