Hours after his wife’s confession to cheating on him at a wedding, a husband killed himself and his two young children.
Fazyl Khalikov, 37, had repeatedly called Galiya, his 31-year-old wife, throughout the night as she was celebrating a Christmas bash with colleagues in oil-rich Ufa, Russia.
She did not respond, but the wife confessed to having sex with a workmate when she returned home in the morning and told him that, according to law enforcement records, she wanted a divorce.
Galiya said that she did not have the “guts” to tell him before.
The married couple rode around the city together chatting, before deciding he wanted to take the kids for a walk.
Khalikov took them 120 miles away to a remote village where they are said to have been killed.
“He sent his brother a message saying, “My wife cheated on me, she admitted today. She told me she loved another man and at their corporate party, they had sex.
“Adieu, I’m going to take the kids with me.”
He called his wife to tell her son, Askar, that Ayana’s six and eighteen-month-old daughter was about to die.
The three bodies were found by police two hours later in a secluded riverside spot.
A female relative said a message from Galiya was recorded by the husband where she “confessed to betraying him”
The relative – known only as Rosa – said: “I can not find the words for this tragedy, and they will not help anyway. The mother has lost two kids, she can not speak.”
“Now she’s in a state of disbelief. You can’t wish your worst enemy all of this.
“For everybody, it’s appalling. There was a strong family like that.
The Russian Investigation Committee, the country’s largest federal investigating body, said: “There was a jealousy-based quarrel after which a man took his six-and-one-year-old children into his car.”
He committed an assassination and took his own life. Investigators soon discovered the vehicle with the bodies.
“His telephone contained proof “that justified his actions.
The statement added: “Carbon monoxide poisoning caused the death of the suspect and the victims.”
“There was no bodily harm found.”
There will be posthumous clinical and psychiatric evaluations.
