Dean Henderson replaces De Gea in Manchester United’s game against Basaksehir

In the starting XI for Manchester United’s game against Basaksehir, Dean Henderson replaced David De Gea.

After remaining on the bench for all of the United Premier League and Champions League matches so far this season, Henderson has finally been given the nod.

But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted to make a move for the Istanbul game and gave the nod to the former loan star of Sheffield United.

“In the games he’s played, Dean was fantastic and with a game coming up sharp on Saturday morning, that’s why we’ve rotated a few places. Dean deserves his start,” Solskjaer said.

Elsewhere, United gave Donny van de Beek a start, days after endless concerns about his exclusion from the squad.

Axel Tuanzebe was drafted to stand next to Harry Maguire in the middle-back, with Victor Lindelof dropped to the bench.

In total, Solskjaer announced six changes from the team that lost to Arsenal during the weekend.

In the starting XI, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Nemanja Matic all came in.

Paul Pogba, Fred and Scott McTominay are amongst the replacements.

In the starting XI, Mason Greenwood also lost his spot.

After the Arsenal game, Solskjaer acknowledged he would need to rotate his team.

“After a disappointing day, it is always important to bounce back and react,” he said.

We had some time now to focus on [the Arsenal defeat] and it’s gone, and we’ve got to get a result in Istanbul, and hopefully, we’re going to get three points, and then we’re going to Everton.

It may have an influence on the choice of teams and subs that we make, depending on the game, of course.

It doesn’t help us at 12:30 on a Saturday, but that’s what the Champions League offers you, it gives you a challenge because you want to compete in this competition in midweek and we just have to take it as it comes.

“We called for a match on Sunday, but there was absolutely no help to make it happen.”

Confirmed XI: Henderson, Wan-Bissaka, Tuanzebe, Maguire, Shaw, Matic, Mata, Van de Beek, Fernandes, Rashford, Martial. Man Utd

Subs: Lindelof, Williams, Fred, McTominay, Pogba, Mengi, James, Cavani, Greenwood, Ighalo, De Gea, Fosu-Mensah.
