Delta man whose video reportedly led to #EndSARS protest, has been re-arrested by the police

Nicholas Makolomi, whom video of SARS operatives allegedly shooting a boy in Ugheli, Delta State, which led to the nationwide #EndSARS protests, was re-arrested by police.

Consel Ekenemolise Osifo of Makolomi, who confirmed the development, stressed that it goes against the ruling of the Federal High Court.

The lawyer alleged that he (Makolomi) was taken to an unknown location and not given access to his medicine as a chronic ulcer and asthmatic patient, describing his client’s re-arrest as a breach of his human rights.

In reality, Prince Nicholas Makolomi captured an injustice being perpetuated and uploaded it to bring the public’s attention to police brutality, like what any right-thinking Nigerian citizen would do.

In view of the country’s current insecurities and lawlessness, the police’s unfounded and unjustified act of covering their inefficiency is an unnecessary diversion and mediocre rather than confronting the real issue and the reality is absolutely disgraceful and unjustified.

The fact that Makolomi called the police’s attention to another act of unlawful extortion carried out by one SP Sunday Nwaja who pleaded for N500,000 to give him a soft landing was what aggravated the police to re-arrest him.

The police cunningly removed the pending matter from the court and re-arrested him in order to cover up their lack of discipline to investigate the extortion problem.

We want his unconditional release and a halt to Prince Nicholas Makolomi’s further abuse. The police could comply with the ruling of the Federal High Court in Asaba on 24 November 2020, which ruled his previous arrest and detention unlawful.

Edo police spokesperson DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya also commented on the incident, saying;

That’s what I’ve heard, but as I speak to you now, I’m not aware that I’m in Enugu for the PPRO workshop.
