The performance of Joe Biden in winning the US presidential election suggests that a dog is going to return to the White House again and dog owners are relieved.

In January, the Democratic President-elect and his wife, Jill Biden, will bring with them their two German shepherds, Champ and Main.

It would be the first time a canine has lived in the US President’s residence in four years, as Republican Donald Trump didn’t like dogs.

Trump becomes the first US president not to have a pet in decades, breaking a long-standing tradition as part of the first family of owning a puppy.

Another landmark will be marked by Biden’s Pooch Major, as it will be the first rescue dog to reach the White House.

Since 2008, the Bidens have had Champ and fostered the Delaware Humane Society’s Major in 2018.

After their daughter Ashley had told them about a new litter of puppies in need of a temporary home, they initially fostered him, according to sources.

The pair agreed to look after one, which ultimately resulted in Major being adopted by them.

Biden tweeted last week: “Let ‘s put our dogs back in the White House.”

He added: “Champ and Major for DOTUS” in the video.

Supporters of Biden are already overjoyed at the possibility of man’s best friend coming back to the building in Washington DC.

US actress Emmy Rossen tweeted: “That’s another little piece of cake icing.”

In the White House, there’s going to be a dog back there, which is just fine and as it should be.

“Weeping tears of joy are my dogs.”

An image of the next First Lady of the United States (FLOTUS) with her dogs was tweeted by a Jill Biden fan account.

It read: “Dogs will finally be back in the White House.”

Users of social media swiftly filled the internet with videos of their own mutts.

“I ‘m glad to see the dogs back at the White House,” one wrote.

There have been dogs for a long line of former US presidents.

After he famously promised his daughters a dog after the 2008 election, Barack Obama and his family had two Portuguese water dogs named Bo and Sunshine.

Bill Clinton had Buddy, a chocolate Labrador retriever, while George W Bush had a spaniel named Spot “Spotty” Fetcher, an English springer.

He had Scottish terriers named Barney and Miss Beazley as well.

The idea of walking a dog on the White House lawn was previously destroyed by Trump, claiming it did not make him “feel fine.”

There have been many people trying to grasp Trump’s cruelty to dogs.
