Dr. Dre hospitalized after suffering from brain aneurysm


Dr Dre, a prolific music maker and music industry giant, developed a brain aneurysm on Monday 4 January and is reportedly undergoing care at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

The rapper and artist, whose real name is Andre Young, was reportedly rushed to the intensive care unit of the medical center by ambulance on Monday. Although TMZ reports that Dre is “stable and lucid,” no further details were given about his condition.

On Tuesday night, 55-year-old Dre posted a statement on social media directed at his friends, family and fans. He has written;

 Thanks to my family, friends and fans for their interest and well wishes. I’m doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team. I will be out of the hospital and back home soon. Shout out to all the great medical professionals at Cedars. One Love!!


Currently, the rapper and producer is getting a divorce from his ex-wife, Nicole Young, and is set for a Wednesday 6 January hearing. In June 2020, Young filed for divorce, irreconcilable differences.

The couple got married in 1996 and together they have two adult children.

Dre is widely recognized as one of hip-highest hop’s earners, surpassing Sean “Diddy” Combs when Beats Electronics, the company he founded in 2008 alongside longtime friend and collaborator Jimmy Iovine, was sold for $3 billion in 2014 to Apple.

The former co-owner of Death Row Records and N.W.A co-founder also created the 2015 N.W.A biopic “Straight Outta Compton.”

“The 55-year-old hip-hop legend’s hits as an artist include the Grammy-winning “Let Me Fly,” “Nuthin’ but a’ G ‘Thang” and “Forgot About Dre,” released between 1992 and 2001.

His relationship with Eminem has been consistent over the decades, with Dre’s latest song credit featuring on the “Music To Be Murdered By-Side B” 2020 compilation, where Dre raps on “Guns Blazing” and acted as a co-producer on another track as well. Dr.

Dre has produced tracks for a number of artists during his career, including Gwen Stefani, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, and 50 Cent, among others.
