Due to the tragic incidents that culminated in the death of some police officers during the End SARS protest, the Federal Government has said that police force men are now afraid to wear their uniforms.

Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, who made this known during an interview with newsmen in Lagos on Friday, called on Nigerians not to victimize them, but to empathize with and respect the personnel of the Nigerian Police Force and other security agencies.

The minister recalled that during the crisis, six soldiers and 37 policemen were killed across the country.

Although 196 police officers were wounded, he said, 164 police cars were destroyed and 134 police stations were burned.

Many of them are even afraid to wear their uniforms today, and in terms of protection of life and property, the result has not been pleasant.

I want to remind all of us that a community that is fighting its police has learned better to make peace with its offenders.

Although they were all concentrated on the fake Lekki Toll Gate massacre, a few were paying attention to the way and manner in which police and soldiers were killed.

Policemen, in particular, have been hacked down in the most horrific way that brings into question the wellbeing of their killers.

Yet they were classified as sub-humans by these security officers,” he said.”

He also noted that no life was more valuable than the other, adding that it should not be selective to uphold human rights.
