On Sunday, the South-West Governors met in Lagos to strategize to strengthen security in the area following the turmoil following the ENDSARS rally.

In his opening remarks, Rotimi Akeredolu, Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum, said that the region has been going through a lot lately.

Akeredolu, who is also the Governor of the State of Ondo, said that the police were leading the protesters when the EndSARS protest began in the South-West and other parts of the country.

He said that what began as a nonviolent youth protest gradually developed into something new.

Our experience has been most worrisome in recent past, everyone is concerned, everyone is worried, we have to maintain the harmony that we have begun to notice.

“We are afraid. What we’ve seen in the last few days indicates that there needs to be something to do,’ Akeredolu said.

He said the meeting was aimed at improving ties in the South-West region and seeking ways to resolve youth unrest.

A great assault on our heritage is what we have seen in the South-West. We’ve got to have unity around the board. We need the Federal Government’s help so that this does not repeat itself, “the Governor of Ondo said.
