The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) claims that no administration since Nigeria’s independence in 1960 has done more for the country than President Muhammadu Buhari’s since taking office in 2015.
Mai Mala Buni, the APC National Chairman and Yobe State Governor, announced this on Tuesday, April 20, at the first edition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Professional Forum’s media interactive session.
Buni was represented at the forum by Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, Secretary of the Caretaker Committee.
“They want the government to be downgraded. This is the first time the country has seen a government like this.
I’m still not interested in politics. Show me a government that has done more than President Buhari and is in direct contact with the people.”
Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, also spoke at the forum and mentioned the accomplishments of the Buhari administration.
“In 2016, President Buhari initiated the National Social Investment Programme, which is actually Africa’s and one of the world’s largest social investment programs.
The National Social Register of Poor and Disadvantaged Nigerians (NSR) currently contains 32.6 million people from over 7 million poor and vulnerable households spread across 708 local government areas, 8,723 wards, and 86,610 communities in the 36 states of the country and the Federal Capital Territory.
The Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) scheme, which pays a bimonthly stipend of N10,000 per household to 1.6 million poor and vulnerable households (comprising more than 8 million individuals in 45,744 communities from 5,483 Wards of 557 LGAs in 35 states and the FCT), is currently benefiting 1.6 million poor and vulnerable households (comprising more than 8 million individuals in 45,744 communities from 5,483 Wards of 557 LGAs in 35 states
President Buhari initiated Nigeria’s Micro-Pension Scheme in January 2019, which allows self-employed people and people who work in businesses with less than three workers to prepare for a pension when they retire or become incapacitated.
Establishment of the Survival Fund, National Youth Investment Fund, and National Special Public Works Program, as well as the Covid-19 Targeted Credit Facility (TCF) to provide federal grants, loans, and stipends to millions of small businesses, families, and young people.” he said
