Royston Drenthe, a former Real Madrid and Holland international, was declared bankrupt by a court in Holland after losing an estimated £ 3.2 million fortune after a failed move to rap music and acting.

On Tuesday, December 1, a court in Breda issued a bankruptcy order, and the winger was not present at the hearing.

The 33-year-old said he was hopeful that the matter would be resolved, telling Voetbalzone that he did not know exactly what was going on after the verdict.

‘I don’t know the ins and outs, and I don’t know exactly what’s happening, but it’s not that important if this is what I think it is,’ he told the website.

‘I am always under a magnifying glass, but as it should be, it will be resolved.’

Drenthe has previously stated, according to Mail Online, that he last lost £ 3.2 million earned from what looked like a promising football career.

Before a big-money move to Real Madrid after his appearances at the Under-21 European Championships in 2007, he began his career in his homeland with Feyenoord, where he was named the player of the tournament as the Dutch player took the trophy.

But Drenthe failed to find his feet in Spain, and he joined Alania Vladikavkaz after just 46 games in five years, including loan spells at Hercules and Everton.

Also appearing later in his career for Reading, Drenthe announced that he had quit football in 2016 to pursue a music career, and started a career under the moniker Roya2Faces. He also attempted to break into acting, appearing in the Mocro Maffia crime television drama.

In 2018, with Sparta Rotterdam in Holland, he returned to football and currently plays for Kozakken Boys in the third tier of the Netherlands.
