Fan-made browser which enables Stadia on iOS is back on the App Store

Stadium is again available on the Apple App Store for free. The free, fan-made browser offers you a way to play on iPhones and iPads with Stadia, Google’s cloud gaming service, and was first released back in September.

Unfortunately, in October, Apple pulled down the app, telling developer Zach Knox that it’s because Stadium uses “public APIs in a way not prescribed by Apple.” Now that Knox has found a solution to this problem, the tech giant has given its approval stamp to Stadium 1.2.

In a way that would allow game streaming services such as Google Stadia and Microsoft’s xCloud to run on iOS devices, Apple updated its App Store guidelines a few months ago. (Not exactly, you will have to download each game individually, which kind of defeats the purpose of getting a cloud gaming subscription.)

However, Stadia is still not currently available for iOS, which is why fans have tried to create workarounds for the service.

Having said that, Stadium 1.2 could no longer support your Bluetooth controller. Knox says the improvements that had to be made to get approval from Apple seem to conflict with the ability of the browser to work with Bluetooth gamepads.

“I have gotten it to work more than once, but certainly not every time I tried,” the developer wrote. The Stadia controller is one sure bet, as it only utilizes Bluetooth for the setup process and WiFi for gameplay.
