In connection with the death of a police officer killed in last week’s Capitol protests, the FBI has released photographs of a man of interest.
Capitol officer Brian Sicknick, 42, fatally lost his life on Thursday, January 7, after being allegedly struck over the head during the Capitol riots with a fire extinguisher.
A screenshot from a video showing a rioter throwing a fire extinguisher hitting a Capitol police officer on the head was released almost a week after his death by investigators.
Another photo of an elderly, bearded man wearing a blue, knitted hat with the letter ‘CFD’ stitched on it was also published by the bureau, and they encouraged anyone who knows him to get in touch as soon as possible.
According to two law enforcement sources, police officer Sicknick died as a result of injuries he suffered during the protests, following a fire extinguisher hit to the head, notes AP.
According to CNN, prosecutors in the US Attorney’s office are planning to open a federal murder investigation into Sicknick’s death.
