Finally, the Federal Government approved the Academic Workers Union of Universities (ASUUproposal )’s that its members be removed from the Integrated Payroll System of Staff Information and (IPPIS).
Naija Task reports that President Muhammadu Buhari led the Federal Government on Friday, 20 November 2020, after weeks of discussions and foot-dragging on the IPPIS issue.
In addition to the IPPIS, a variety of topics were also moved by the Federal Government, including the insistence that all teaching workers of federal universities would be compensated by the IPPIS network.
At the end of a seven-hour negotiation with ASUU members in Abuja, the nation’s capital, the Minister of Labour and Jobs, Senator Chris Ngige, who read the communiqué, said that the government has agreed to ASUU’s offer to pay the wage arrears of its members from February to June via the old salary payment portal, the Government Integrated Financial and Management Information System.
The federal government also promised to increase the Received Salaries from N30bn to N35bn for university employees and the N20bn to N25bn revitalization fund, as stated earlier by Naija Task.
