All network operators have been ordered by the Federal Government of Nigeria to sever any SIM card not synchronized with the correct National Identity Number by 30 December 2020.
The order was released following an urgent meeting of key stakeholders in the communications industry convened on Monday by Dr Isa Pantami, Minister of Communications and the Digital Economy.
The meeting insisted in its resolution that as of 16 December, all telecom operators would require all their subscribers to provide valid NIN to update their SIM registration records.
This move comes in the wake of an earlier order suspending new SIM registrations across the country for network operators.
