Authorities in Indianapolis have named the FedEx mass shooter who killed eight people at one of the company’s facilities as Brandon Scott, a 19-year-old former FedEx employee.

At a news conference on Friday evening, Indianapolis Deputy Police Chief Craig McCartt named the gunman as, announcing that investigators had searched a home in the city associated with Mr. Hole and recovered evidence, including computers and other electronic media.

Hole last served for FedEx in 2020, according to Mr. McCartt. He also said that he had no idea why Hole quit the job or whether he had any connections to the facility’s employees.

Around 11 p.m. Thursday, April 15, Hole allegedly used a rifle to kill eight people and injured several more at a FedEx facility near the Indianapolis airport before turning the gun on himself.

At the press conference, Deputy Chief Craig McCartt said, “We’ve recently found him, so now the work really begins, trying to determine and see if we can find out some kind of motive in this, but we don’t have that right now.”

“At the time of the incident, there were at least 100 people in the facility….” “Many people were changing shifts and taking a break for dinner,” McCartt said.

The fatal victims have yet to be named, according to police.

“Crime Lab is still here, wrapping up the scene processing,” McCartt said. “They’re collaborating with the coroner’s office closely. We’ve reached the point where we’re interviewing victims, notifying families, and hopefully wrapping up the processing of this crime scene here very soon.”

Mr. McCartt said Hole began shooting at people in the parking lot, then went into the building and kept shooting late Thursday night.

He said that the gunman committed suicide shortly before police entered the house.

He said, “There was no dispute with anyone who was there.” “There was no commotion and no disagreement. He seemed to start shooting at random.”

According to Mr. McCartt, four people were killed outside the building and four others were killed inside.

A number of people were also injured, with five of them being admitted to the hospital.

Following suicide threats, Indianapolis police seized a pistol and arrested Hole last year.

A mental health search for suicidal thoughts was conducted in the 1100 block of 1109 North Huber St. on March 3, 2020, according to an IMPD investigation, and Hole, then 18, was arrested. According to the study, police confiscated a shotgun “from a dangerous individual.”

“The suspect’s mother approached law enforcement in March 2020 to warn that he may try to commit suicide by cop,’” said FBI Indianapolis Special Agent in Charge Paul Keenan.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department put the suspect on an urgent detention mental health temporary hold.” At his home, a shotgun was discovered.

The FBI investigated the perpetrator in April 2020 based on things found in his bedroom at the time. During the review, no racially motivated violent extremism (RMVE) ideology was discovered, and no criminal violation was discovered. The suspect did not get his shotgun back.
