Finalist for Miss Universe, left ‘traumatised’ after mob chased her for wearing a mask during Capitol chaos

A former Miss Universe contender was left “shaken” after a protester in Washington DC chased her through the US capital during pro-Trump riots.

Fionnghuala O’Reilly, an Irish-American model who works as a datanaut for NASA, had been out for a run as the Capitol Hill riots began, and made to flee away from a man “yelling” at her for wearing a mask.

“On her Instagram page, she shared footage from the terrifying encounter, writing: “I’m completely horrified. Still, I’m shaken.

A man followed me this morning, screamed at me and tracked me down because I was wearing a mask while jogging.

“To getaway, I had to run away from him.”

My grandmother is 75 with diabetes and she beat Covid, and yet you’re, running around on a mask on and [you’re] like 33. The man could be heard yelling at her about his grandmother in the clip.

‘I don’t care, videotape me,’ he added before cutting it off as he dashed for her.

Currently living in Washington DC, the former pageant queen, who was crowned Miss Universe Ireland in 2019, is a correspondent for the CBS show Project Unstoppable.

She said the attacks had gone too far in condemning the acts of violence and anarchy in recent days and pleaded with her fans and followers to remain safe at home.
