Florida nurse arrested for threatening to harm Kamala Harris

A 39-year-old nurse has been arrested in Florida for reportedly trying to kill US Vice President Kamala Harris.

Following an investigation by the US Secret Service, Niviane Petit Phelps was arrested.

On March 3, Special Agent David Ballenger was told of an attempt to kill Harris, according to a criminal complaint lodged in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

Phelps sent the threats to her incarcerated spouse at Wakulla Correctional Institution through JPay, a computer application that enables non-incarcerated and incarcerated people to share media.

The videos and photos that Phelps sent to her husband were retrieved by a Secret Service special agent assigned to the case.

According to the lawsuit, from February 13 to February 18, “Niviane Petit Phelps knowingly and willfully made threats to kill and inflict bodily harm upon the Vice President of the United States in violation of Title 18, United States Code Section 871.”

According to the lawsuit, “the videos (that are relevant to this investigation) usually depict Phelps moaning and speaking aggressively to the camera about her contempt for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, among others.”

“However, Phelps also made remarks in these videos about killing Vice President Harris.”

‘Kamala Harris, you’re going to die,’ Phelps said in one of the videos. “Your days are already numbered,” the complaint continued. On February 18, Phelps said in another video, “I’m going to the gun range….” Today is the day you’re going to die, I swear to God. Put this day on your calendar for 50 days from now.” Phelps said that she thinks Harris is not really black, and that she disrespectfully placed her hand on her clutch purse instead of the Bible during the inauguration.

According to the lawsuit, investigators have discovered a picture of Phelps at a shooting range, carrying a gun and laughing next to a target with bullet holes. According to the lawsuit, she has applied for a concealed weapons permit in February.

According to the lawsuit, the Secret Service and investigators from the Miami-Dade Police Department went to Phelps’ home on March 3 to interview her, but she declined to speak with them at the time.

A Secret Service agent visited Phelps at her home on March 6 to meet with her. “She was upset at the time about Kamala Harris being Vice President, but she is ‘over it now,’” Phelps said in the complaint.
