Nigeria Road Safety

Yesterday, an accident involving a bus and Toyota claimed the lives of four employees at BN Ceramics Company, Ajaokuta, Kogi State, while many were injured.

As the driver of the bus overtook another vehicle at a sharp curve, an eyewitness said both vehicles had a head-on collision.

Although confirming the crash, Mr. Solomon Agure, Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, said that three employees of the ceramics company died out of nine employees in the company’s car.

He said the workers worked overnight and closed in the morning, but sadly, their car was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle while their staff bus was carrying them home and three people died on the spot. “Those injured have been rushed to the hospital,” he said.

In the meantime, in a statement yesterday, the management of BN Ceramics regretted the death of some of its workers who were involved in the car accident.

A statement signed on behalf of the management by Salihu Mohammed, Human Resources Officer, said the accident took place about 10:00 am this morning (yesterday) inside the steel complex.
