Four cadets detained for dealing with hard drugs while 1 was disqualified for pregnancy

In the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement (NDLEA) facility, four final-year cadets and a constable have been detained for allegedly trafficking in hard drugs.

After a courier agent conveying the consignment containing the substance suspected to be hard drugs was intercepted by law enforcement agents at Kwanar Dangora, along Zaria highway in Kiru local government area of Kano state, the students of the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano state were nabbed.

Academy Commander AIG Zanna M. Ibrahim, who disclosed this while addressing the Daily Course 7 cadets on Thursday, 4 November, said inquiries are still underway to determine the guilt of the suspects or otherwise.

Ibrahim said that 25 cadets were dismissed from the institution over suspected indiscipline and gross misconduct, the Daily Trust also published. Ibrahim, who announced that among those dismissed was a pregnant female cadet, said the academy would implement daily drug and maternity testing to ensure that rigorous training can only be performed by those who are physically and morally fit.

He said;

We had a pregnancy incident where a cadet was expelled, and we don’t want it to be repeated. We subject them to these assessments to ensure that they are fit and suitable to proceed with their academic programs by the time the cadets go on holiday when they return.

Drug test, you have to believe me that drugs are the blight of today’s Nigerian youth, you know that drug addiction and drug abuse are very common among youth. Also the recent demonstration and the ensuing looting were caused by drug violence.

We want to make sure that such unhealthy acts do not affect our cadets. We will subject them to certain tests at intervals where we classify those that are into drugs, or we show them the way out of women with unwanted pregnancies.
