Four suspects were arrested by the Bauchi State Police in connection with the horrific murder of Musa Mante Baraza, a member of the State House of Assembly representing the Baraza Dass constituency.
Remember that the lawmaker was killed by gunmen at his residence in Dass on Thursday night, 13 August 2020. The gunmen stormed his house and shot him dead, kidnapping two of his wives and his one-year-old son afterward.
DSP spokesman Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who confirmed the arrest on Friday 4 December, when he paraded the perpetrators at the command headquarters alongside others, said they were detained on 14 November.
On 14/11/2020, one Abdulrazak Mohammed ‘m’ aged 29yrs, Abdulmumini Umar ‘m’ 29yrs, Yusuf Mohammed ‘m’ aged 18yrs, and Mas’ud Hassan ‘m’ aged 22yrs all of Bauchi city were arrested in connection with the case of Hon. Musa Mantai Baraza ‘m’, a member representing Dass Constituency, Dass L.G.A Bauchi State, were named by his two wives and one daughter; (1) Rashida mal. Mu.
“They robbed him eight different phones all valued at three hundred thousand nairas (N300,000:00k) afterward shot him dead. On receipt of the notice, a joint operation between IRT and Command detectives swung into action rescued the victims and detained the above-mentioned suspects. During investigation Hon. Musa’s phone Tecno Handset with MTN sim card was recovered from their possession.”
Wakil said the investigation is still underway following which the suspects will be charged with an indictment and probable conviction by the court.
In the meantime, Police Commissioner Bauchi, State Police Command CP Lawan Tanko Jimeta, ordered all suspects to be profiled and tried in court.
