Google is changing things in 2021, and some users will be blocked from using their common email service.

Google has revealed a major shift, meaning that some apps, including Gmail and Google Meet, will no longer support Internet Explorer 11.

Google confirmed that on March 15, 2021, all Workspace applications would stop running on Internet Explorer 11.

Yahoo, Google Calendar, Drive, Docs/Sheets, Slides, Meet, Talk, and more are included here.

So you may want to consider upgrading if you are one of those individuals who are still using Internet Explorer 11.

Those who don’t update their browser will start seeing a banner reminding them to upgrade at the top of all their apps.

Internet Explorer remains the fourth most popular browser in the world, according to NetMarketShares.

This means there will most likely be millions who are still using it and in March 2021 they will be in for a little shock.

Google officially recommends that Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Microsoft Edge be used to “prevent possible service disruptions, such as performance degradation or security vulnerabilities.”

Google said in a recent blog post:

We suggest that our own users move to another browser as soon as possible to prevent any potential service disruptions, such as decreased performance or security vulnerabilities.

On March 15, 2021, Google Workspace will formally stop supporting IE 11.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll start showing a banner to all Google Workspace users still using IE 11 that informs them of the need to upgrade their browser by March 15, 2021.
