The striker had been quarantining since September 24, when he revealed that “Covid had the courage to challenge” him

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and AC Milan have announced that the Swedish forward has tested negative for coronavirus after testing positive for Covid-19 late last month.

The striker announced on September 24 that he had tested positive for the coronavirus, taking to social media to quip: “Covid had the courage to challenge me. Bad idea.”

Ibrahimovic was then required to begin a period of self-isolation, taking him out of contention to feature for Milan.

However, on Friday, Ibrahimovic revealed that he has officially tested negative, making him eligible to return to the squad.

The 39-year-old forward, who recently claimed he is football’s Benjamin Button, did that grand reveal on Twitter, announcing his negative test in typical fashion.

“You’re healed. Health authorities be warned: the quarantine is over,” he said. “You can go out! # f*ckcovid19 #godiscomingforyou”

AC Milan confirmed the news moments later, saying that Ibrahimovic’s quarantine period is over.

“AC Milan announces that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has tested negative to two consecutive swabs,” he club said. “The City of Milan Health Authorities have terminated his quarantine.”

Ibrahimovic has made two appearances for AC Milan so far this campaign, scoring three goals to start the season.

He opened his account in a Europa League qualifying win against Shamrock Rovers, before then bagging a Serie A brace against Bologna.

Ibrahimovic rejoined AC Milan last December, signing an initial six-month contract before coming to terms on a new deal that extends through to next summer.

His return to Italy came following a stint with the LA Galaxy, where he scored 53 goals in 58 appearances for the MLS club.

The striker then made 20 total appearances for Milan, scoring 11 goals in all competitions.

Having played three matches, Milan currently sit second in Serie A after winning each of their first three league matches while conceding zero goals through those three matches.

They’re matched by only Atalanta, who currently lead Serie A on goal difference thanks to the 13 goals they’ve scored to start the campaign.

Following the international break, AC Milan will take on local rivals Inter before then beginning the Europa League group stage with a visit to Celtic.
