“I’d rather have Rashford in my team than Neymar!” – Paul Ince says

The former Red Devil does not rate the Brazilian as a “great player” and claims that Kylian Mbappe has more in common with England internationally.

Paul Ince, who claims he would rather have the Manchester United striker in his squad than the “embarrassing” Paris Saint-Germain star, has rated Marcus Rashford above Neymar.

For the first time, Rashford and Neymar came up against each other at club level when PSG invited United to Parc des Princes on October 20 for a Group H Champions League opener.

The French champions were strong favorites going into the game, having made it all the way to the 2019-20 final, but to secure an impressive 2-1 win, the Red Devils created a superb display of attacking football.

Until Anthony Martial’s own goal gifted the hosts an equaliser, setting up a tense finale, Bruno Fernandes put the visitors in front of the penalty spot.

United pressed the winner hardest and were rewarded for their efforts as Rashford threw a fierce strike into the lower left-hand corner of the net of Keylor Navas with just three minutes left to play.

Throughout the 90 minutes, the England international was a thorn in PSG’s hand and was eventually unlucky not to come away with two or three goals to his credit, while Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria endured a shockingly unsuccessful night at the other end of the pitch.

By hitting a superb hat-trick after coming on as a substitute against RB Leipzig at Old Trafford the following week, Rashford built on his match-winning performance in Paris, helping Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ‘s side wrap up an emphatic 5-0 victory.

Ince assumes the 23-year-old is on track to achieve the same stage as Mbappe, winner of the World Cup, and already thinks that he has a greater effect on matches than Neymar, the frustrating PSG team-mate of the Frenchman.

The former Red Devils midfielder told Ladbrokes, “I look at Rashford and the way he plays, his attitude, his application, his strength, he is a big part of that squad.”

He’s got a huge burden on his back for such a young boy, not just on the pitch but off it as well. When bringing in players, he’s the stage United should be looking at.

“He’s a great kid — he’s just 23 now. A boy from Manchester, he plays as if he loves a club that is brilliant. Some players play as if they’d like to get out of the club. For the rest of his life, it seems like he needs to be there.

“You’re looking at Kylian Mbappe, you’re looking at Neymar. Will you bring that ilk into Rashford? He’s still learning, not just yet, but he’s young.

“A special player, Mbappe is. You look at Neymar, though he was a disgrace to Man United. He was awkward. To lose the ball, to stand still. This is not an amazing player.

“You’re not going to get anything from Rashford. He came on and had a hat-trick scored.

If you were to ask me who I would rather have between Rashford and Neymar in my squad, it’s completely Rashford. For sure, that is.

If he keeps doing what he’s doing, I ‘m sure he’d be up there, like Mbappe.

He likes the pressure, the week-in, the week-out, he turns it on. That’s what a player from Man United ought to be.
