‘Igbo’s are not ready for Biafra’ – Gov Uzodinma says

Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, has stated that what Ndigbo needs at this time is not separatism, as demonstrated by the Biafra agitation.

The insinuation that Ndigbo intends to break away from the federation is false, according to Uzodinma, who spoke at the first South-East security meeting in Owerri.

The governor told his counterparts from other states in the South-East, as well as security chiefs and other stakeholders in the region, that Ndigbo have not been treated equally in the Nigerian federation and that justice, equality, and fairness are what they need.

“Following Monday’s attacks in Owerri, and the preceding ones in various parts of the South-East, several people have come up with varying degrees of hypotheses concerning the attackers’ motives and their effects on our people,” he said. The most ludicrous of these hypotheses is that Igbo no longer wish to be a part of Nigeria, which explains their belligerence and proclivity for war and aggression.

“There isn’t a single thing that could be further from the facts. Maybe that’s what these mercenaries of aggression in Igboland are after. That, however, is a nefarious and malicious conspiracy theory concocted by Ndigbo’s foes. Let us, therefore, announce, with one voice, that the South-East is not at war with the federal government right now. If anything, we are on the same page when it comes to not only condemning terrorism in Nigeria, but also combating it with all the arms at our disposal.”
