After leaving West Ham, the midfielder is a free agent, but there is one club whose call he may never return.

Jack Wilshere, the free agent midfielder, insisted that he would never be able to move to Tottenham.

Wilshere came to Arsenal’s academy and spent 10 years with the Gunners as part of the first-team set-up, making 197 total appearances.

While he described himself as one of the most promising talents in England, Wilshere did not fully fulfill his potential with Arsenal because of a host of injury problems.

In 2018, he joined West Ham, but injuries also blighted his time with the Hammers, as he made just 19 appearances over two seasons, including only six Premier League starts.

Early in October, West Ham ended Wilshere’s £ 100,000-a-week deal, making the 28-year-old a free agent.

He told the Super 6 podcast that his Arsenal connections would make any move to their north London rivals unlikely, while Wilshere is still without a club.

“Wilshere replied when asked if he would ever consider a move to Tottenham:” I love [head coach Jose] Mourinho, I think he’s an amazing coach … but I couldn’t do it.

Wilshere went on to express concerns as to whether he would ever be in a position to refuse a Spurs approach.

“Wouldn’t they have me!” he said. “But I don’t think I can do it. It’s not like Arsenal got rid of me and threw me out, and they gave me a contract, and I decided to try something else. I’m a guy from Arsenal.”

In October, Wilshere talked about his future with the BBC, saying he is working with friends in a local park while waiting for his next step to be determined.

The midfielder said that in a number of different countries he is open to playing and maintained that he still has a lot of football left in his legs.

“Finding a club where I’m going to play, being an important player and being happy is important. I don’t want to hurry into it. In the right country, it has to be the right team,” Wilshere said. I am open to Europe, or wherever that might be.

“People are forgetting that I’m 28. Everyone thinks I’m 30 or 31, possibly because when I was 16 I started. That was 12 years ago, a long time ago in football.
