As Italy recorded a routine triumph over Estonia in Florence, Federico Bernardeschi and Riccardo Orsolini added to Vincenzo Grifo’s brace.

With a 4-0 friendly victory over Estonia at Stadio Artemio Franchi on Wednesday, Vincenzo Grifo scored his first global goals as Italy extended their unbeaten streak to 20 games.

Since a 1-0 Nations League loss to Portugal in September 2018, the Azzurri have now won 15 of their 20 games and have never looked in danger of tasting defeat against a team 97 places below them in the world rankings.

After testing positive for COVID-19, led by Alberico Evani with Roberto Mancini self-isolating, the hosts went ahead after 14 minutes courtesy of Grifo’s maiden Italy objective, and Federico Bernardeschi doubled their advantage.

In the 75th minute, Grifo then scored a second from the penalty spot before replacement Riccardo Orsolini added another one from 12 yards to help Italy wrap up the most routine wins.

With a sumptuous opener, Freiburg forward Grifo marked his fourth outing for Italy, whipping a half-volley off the left-hand post of Marko Meerits from 25 yards after a lay-off by Kevin Lasagna.

A glorious opportunity soon afterwards was lost by an unmarked Lasagna, the Udinese forward failing to make a clean link from close range with Bernardeschi’s teasing cross.

Shortly before the half-hour mark, however, Italy’s dominance was rewarded when Bernardeschi cut in from the right to curl a left-footed shot from just outside the penalty area into the bottom corner-his first international goal since October 2019.

Following an incisive pass on the edge of the penalty area after the break, Emerson Palmieri lashed wide, while Grifo saw an effort deflected narrowly wide.

In the 86th minute, Orsolini then wrapped up the scoring, sweeping home his second international goal from the spot after pushing Henri Jarvelaid into the region’s rash challenge.
