Joe Biden confirmed by the Electoral College as the new US President

The Electoral College has verified Joe Biden’s presidential win, ensuring he will be the next US president.

On Monday afternoon, California, the most populous state in the US, delivered its 55 electoral votes to Mr. Biden, officially taking over the 270 votes required to win the White House.

Mr. Biden is predicted to lead Mr. Trump 306-232 when all of the states finish voting, despite the outgoing president still refusing to recognize the result, wrongly maintaining that he won the race. The president tweeted on Sunday: ‘Votes can not be confirmed. The election is being protested! ”

On January 6, Congress will meet to certify the votes for the electoral college.

On January 20, 2021, President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris are due to be sworn in at noon.
