In 2021, Juventus obtained four out of four wins and will face Sassuolo or SPAL for a seat in the Coppa Italia semi-finals.

On his debut, Hamza Rafia scored the winner as Juventus needed additional time to beat Genoa 3-2 and reach the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.

In the first half at Allianz Stadium on Wednesday, a much-changed Juve side was a cut above Serie A battlers Genoa, but did a hard job of setting up a final eight tie against Sassuolo or SPAL.

In the opening 45 minutes, Dejan Kulusevski was fantastic, scoring within two minutes and laying down a second goal for Alvaro Morata.

In an otherwise one-sided first half, Lennart Czyborra pulled a goal back from out of the blue and Filippo Melegoni later equalized, but Tunisia’s 21-year-old international Rafia came off the bench to settle the game late in the first half of extra time.

Kulusevski got the Turin giants off to a dream start, superbly handling Giorgio Chiellini’s incisive pass with his right foot and firing home with his left.

Genoa were unable to deal with the strength of Juve and Alberto Paleari denied Kulusevski when he went one-on-one with the Genoa goalkeeper, but Morata was on target 23 minutes in.

On this instance, Kulusevski turned provider, helping another pinpoint ball from Chiellini into the path of the Spanish striker with a sublime cushioned pass, and Morata held his composure at his near post to beat Paleari.

Juve was absolutely dominant, but Czyborra brought Genoa back into it when he snatched Edoardo Goldaniga’s cross completely against the run of play at the back post to head home, before Arthur and Manolo Portanova had goals ruled out for offside in a pulsating first half.

At his near post early in the second half, Paleari held Morata’s shot out, but Genoa was almost level as Marko Pjaca rattled the crossbar from outside the penalty area.
