Today, January 7, the Kaduna state government indicted Abraham Alberah, the publicity secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, and four others before a Gabasawa magistrate court for allegedly trying to commit adultery and breaching the COVID-19 protocol.

Note that Asher Lounge, a restaurant, was demolished by the Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KASUPDA) in December 2020 over the alleged plans to host a sex party in the facility. The politician, Abraham Alberah, is the husband of Asher Lounge’s CEO, Aisha Yakubu.

KASUPDA claimed that the hotel was the suggested venue for a sex party, but there was no spot for a flyer announcing the planned sex party.

Ismail Umaru-Dikko, KASUPDA director-general, said the building was demolished on Tuesday 5 January because it lacked the requisite permission before it was erected. Yakubu, who said that after the demolition she lost a one-month-old pregnancy, refuted KASUPDA’s accusation and threatened to seek legal remedy.

On Thursday morning, the state government arraigned restaurant owners, workers, and customers before the courtroom. The five defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges of “public nuisance, obscene or indecent behavior, gross indecency, and adultery.”

The statement reads;

Reliable information was collected at the Sabon Tasha police station on December 27, 2020, at approximately 21.30 hours, to the effect that a sex party was arranged by some unknown persons to hold at a venue named Asher Guest Lounge located at Court Road, Sabon Tasha in Chikun local government area, Kaduna state to hold at approximately 19.00 hours.

Upon receipt of the information, a team of police from the Sabon Tasha police station rushed down to the above-mentioned scene and found the above-mentioned lounge packed with over 50 young men and women dancing almost naked with no face mask on any of them.

The entire arena became chaotic upon seeing the policemen as the aforementioned youths leapt from one corner to the other and fled over the fence. Three suspects, Mr. Abraham Alberah, Umar Rufai and Suleiman Lemona, were arrested, while two others were arrested: Chimezie Kenneth, who organized the gang, and Marvellous Akpan, who disseminated the information.

The prosecuting barrister, Benjamin Nok, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100,000, each with a protection that must own property in Abuja.
