In July 2020, Recall West launched a movement under its self-described ‘Birthday Party’ to run for president against President Trump and Democratic candidate Joe Biden.

In 12 states, Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Utah, Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Vermont, he made it on the ballot as an independent or third-party nominee.

Kanye announced that he voted for himself and wrote his own name along with his vice-presidential choice, Michelle Tidball, on the ballot in Wyoming, after he failed to send enough petition signatures in August to get on the Wyoming ballot, voting for the first time in a US presidential election.

Kanye conceded defeat after winning a little more than 57,000 votes after voting for himself, as the results came out on November 4.

West appeared on the ballot in 12 states, according to the Associated Press, and his best showing in the election was in Tennessee, where he received 10,188 votes.
