Katsina Abduction: BBOG Movement Seeks US Interference, Sack Of Chiefs Of Service

The #BringBackOurGirls Campaign has called for the rescue by the Nigerian government of the 333 abducted schoolboys from the Government Science Secondary School in Katsina State.

In a statement on Tuesday, the BBOG said that President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government was indecisive about the rescue of schoolboys as it did about the remaining 2014 Chibok schoolgirls and Leah Sharibu, the remaining 2015 kidnapped Dapchi schoolgirl.

In the declaration signed by Oby Ezekwesili, Aisha Yesufu, and other members of the party, the BBOG also called for the immediate “dismissal of the service chiefs and the review of the country’s security architecture in the face of increasing insecurity and banditry.”

The statement reads;

We ask the Federal Government to seek the help of regional and international stakeholders, especially the United States, to deploy the same security prowess used to rescue one American citizen so that with their support, we can win this war on terrorism and banditry.

We will continue to monitor events as a movement and respond accordingly. In this game of failed leadership, using our kids as pawns must stop now. In the rescue of abductees, the first 48 hours are critical. The window of successful and timely rescue becomes more and more complicated, three days after the abduction of the #KankaraBoys.

The state and federal government’s lack of urgency is disturbing; how much longer do parents have to grieve about the uncertain location of the kids they send to school?

A characteristic of Nigeria’s federal government, President Muhammad Buhari’s administration has once again failed the #KankaraBoys. The continuation of the seemingly endless nightmare of the string of abductions of school children, including the 112 #ChibokGirls and #LeahSharibu still unaccounted for is unacceptable while the government led by Buhari continues to play the role of an ostrich with citizens’ protection and lives.

Didn’t President Buhari know anything about the safety of our children in the theatre of war? The trademark of his administration’s failed leadership is his indifference to the plight of people.

The group added;

We are dismayed at the actual number of schoolboys abducted by the back-and-forth between the state and the federal government. We don’t want to see another Chibok where days and weeks passed while the Goodluck Jonathan government’s inaction and delays led to a prolonged abduction that is yet to be resolved today.

The BBOG observed that the fact that the President was on the ground in the state of Katsina and did not think it necessary to visit the disconsolate parents was completely disgusting.

We call for immediate rescue action using all the government’s resources to bring back #KankaraBoys, #LeahSharibu, and #ChibokGirls; direct contact with the abducted boys’ parents about the efforts made and a determination to rescue their children; immediate sack of the chiefs of service and review of the country’s security architecture given the rising cases of Insecurity.
