Kevin De Bruyne will apparently refuse the first offer of a new contract from Manchester City which is said to be far from satisfied with the attempts of the club to get him to sign on.

In recent years, De Bruyne, 29, has been one of the world’s best players and is undoubtedly one of City’s most important stars.

His current deal lasts until the summer of 2023, and it is understood the City will be keen to lock him down to a new five-year term.

But he is frustrated with what he has been given so far, according to The Times De Bruyne, and is set to turn the club’s first proposal down.

The Belgian international is currently receiving an eye-watering £ 310,000 a week, and is not the Premier League’s highest-earning player, with Mesut Ozil and David de Gea above him.

De Bruyne thinks his salary should reflect the fact that he is undoubtedly the division’s most talented player, although it remains to be seen if City can come back in the near future with an improved bid.

Following his stunning displays in the heart of the City midfield, he was also awarded PFA Players’ Player of the Year last season.
