The abductors killed an activist, Sani Khalil Rigasa, after receiving his family’s N1.5 million ransom.
Sani Khalil Rigasa has been a prominent activist for #SecuretheNorth and a member of North Media Authors.
Sani was kidnapped during the November 21 assault on the Rigasa Train Station in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, during which Rabiu Awwal was killed.
In the attack, another young man known as Umar Elkhadab was wounded while Sani was abducted by the kidnappers.
The men were said to be returning from Rigachukwu, where they met with the Kaduna State House of Assembly Speaker to discuss Kaduna’s insecurity.
Sani was also like Rabiu, an activist who had called on President Buhari to safeguard the north.
In a statement on Saturday, 5 December, the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the new developments.
“In November 2020, on the Rigasa – Link Road in Igabi Local Government Area, Khalil was abducted. The government sent heartfelt condolences,” he said.
Meanwhile, friends and acquaintances have taken to Facebook to mourn him. One Danmalikin Rigachikun defined the deceased as a “popular figure in the campaign for securing the north”
“Kidnapped few weeks ago, after payment of ransom he is reported killed by his abductors, Sani Khalil Rigasa, rest in peace”
