In defiance of the European Super League saga, Leeds supporters set fire to Liverpool shirts and chased the team bus.

The Reds have formed a breakaway league with Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as three Italian and three Spanish clubs.

And they are the first to face a barrage of criticism from commentators such as Jamie Carragher, UEFA, and the government over the proposals.

It has been thrown in the faces of the Anfield side as they prepare to face the Whites at Elland Road, with hundreds of fans gathered to show their displeasure.

Images have emerged of Leeds supporters lighting old Liverpool shirts on fire with lighters and deodorant.

Others are said to have followed the team bus down the road before arriving at Elland Road for the 8 p.m. kickoff.

On Twitter, fans were seen carrying a banner that read “love for the working class game, destroyed by greed and corruption.”

“F*** the Super League,” “We’re fans together, we’ll never be defeated,” and “six selfish b******s” were chanted as the banner was carried.

In the afternoon, a plane was seen flying over Leeds’ ground, encouraging Twitter users to wear #SayNoToSuperLeague.

Even at their hotel, Liverpool couldn’t avoid the jeers, with a prankster playing the ABBA hit “Money, Money, Money” on a saxophone.

Leeds supporters wore “football is for the fans” shirts during warm-ups as part of a rally inside the stadium.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, Inter, and Juventus will enter the Premier League in the breakaway league.

In his pre-match interview, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expressed his displeasure with owner John W Henry.

“My view hasn’t changed,” he said.

“Obviously, I heard about it firsthand yesterday, and when you’re trying to prepare for a game, particularly a tough game against Leeds United, you don’t want to hear about it.

“Then we got some detail, which wasn’t much to be honest; most of it could be found in newspapers or elsewhere.

“It’s a difficult one. People are upset about it, which I understand, but there’s not much else I can say about it because we weren’t involved in any of the processes.

“Not the players, not me,” says the narrator. We were completely unaware of it. That’s the reality; the facts are out there, and we’ll have to wait and see how things play out.”
