American Rapper, Lil Wayne took to his Twitter account to thank former US President Donald Trump for giving him a presidential pardon.
In his final hours as US president, Donald Trump issued a full presidential pardon to rapper Lil Wayne.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida announced in November that Wayne faced a federal firearms charge linked to an incident at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport in December 2019.
In December, he pleaded guilty and was facing up to 10 years in jail.
However, earlier this week, the White House issued a statement about Wayne’s pardon and acknowledged the rapper’s contribution to charity as a justification for the pardon.
Taking to Twitter today, Lil Wayne praised Trump. Lil Wayne wrote;
I want to thank President Trump for recognizing that I have so much more to give to my family, my art, and my community. I also want to thank @bradfordcohen for working so diligently to secure another chance for me. Love!
