Before jumping around her corpse with his teenage sister, Utah police allege, a man murdered his own mum at the dinner table.
After Victoria Ramirez was gunned down in her Springville home on December 23, Mike Lopez, 23, was charged with murder.
Newly released police records show that Ms. Ramirez knew her son was going to kill her as she sat at the table with Lopez and her two teenage daughters moments before she died.
“All four were seated at the dining room table when [Lopez] pointed a shotgun directly at the victim,” police records say.
“Mike turned towards his 14-year-old sister and they gave each other a head nod.”
As the 17-year-old stayed outside the door, police said, the younger sister progressed to lock herself in the bathroom.
Ms. Ramirez allegedly told Lopez, “I know you’re going to kill me, and I love you,” He then reportedly shot her with a pistol in the head, instantly killing her.
The 14-year-old sister left the toilet and went to stroke the hair of her dead mother, police say, before dancing next to her body with Lopez.
Meanwhile, KUTV reports, the 17-year-old sister locked herself in the toilet and called her older sister before escaping from a window.
The unnamed older sister called the police after that.
They found Lopez unharmed in the underground bathtub when officers arrived.
The 17-year-old sister reportedly told the police that she believed her younger sister was aware of her brother’s plot to kill her mother at the dinner table.
She also believed Lopez had given marijuana to her younger sister.
Police also said that during an interview, the 14-year-old girl was uncooperative, but she is currently not facing any charges. According to the police, Lopez has also been uncooperative in numerous interview attempts.
Lopez remains in detention as he has been considered a flight risk by the authorities who, if released on bail, may flee to join his father in Mexico.
