A strongman has managed to break one of his “heaviest weight lifted by both eye sockets” most dangerous world records.

As part of this week’s stunt, marking the annual Guinness World Record Day, Manjit Singh, 70, from Leicester, was scheduled to lift 25 kilograms.

It involved inserting into his eye sockets two large hooks. But things didn’t quite go to schedule, and Manjit still holds the current record at 24 kilograms, LeicestershireLive reports.

The Ironman, as he is called, after having difficulty holding the hooks in place that he made himself, was unable to break the record.

A few days back, I had tried it and it was good, but one of the hooks was actually falling out on the day,”I had tried it a few days back and it was fine but on the day one of the hooks was actually coming out,”

On the day you just go for it, no planning or practice is needed.

He told LeicestershireLive, “I’d say it’s 100 percent mental – it’s mind over matter,”

Another of his rewards, he said was his experience. In March, he celebrated his 70th birthday.

At 70 years old and weighing 75 kilograms, Manjit said that when they see what he can do, “people are shocked”

“They don’t believe me when I say I can pull a bus with my hair or blow up a hot water bottle with my mouth but it’s an advantage to me,” he said.

His previous records include the longest distance with the ears and the heaviest vehicle driven by human hair to drive a single-decker bus.

“Age is not a barrier, you just carry on,” he said.

Despite not practicing ahead of a competition like this the strongman acknowledged that he often gets his hot water bottle out to blow up for practice as it “takes a lot of strength”

He was scheduled to perform on America’s Got Talent earlier this year, aiming to use his ears to lift one of the show’s judges, Heidi Klum.

But his appearance was postponed for a future series, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Manjit looks forward to his next stunt, with no plans to retire from contributing to his various records.
